A natural monument of Japan

The Japanese Akita comes from the mountainous Akita Prefecture in northern Honshu. Japan declared it a natural monument in 1931, and the world came to know it through the story of loyal Hachikō.

An Akita is devoted to one family, quiet at home and reserved with strangers. It is a dog for people who value calm, consistency and a long life together.
